This is a fairly substantial white metal Helmet Plate measuring 5.5inches x 3.5 inches,this includes the cockade on the top.It was difficult to photo but in the hand the badge is far more of a silver.\there are 3 short screws on the back,it looks as if they have been cut at some time.Would look nice on display or fixed in a helmet.Pattern 1871 but used throughout WW1.. (see photo of how it would look on a helmet) £75

Click HERE for bigger picture Here was have a Cavalry badge belonging to the 27th Lancers,that were authorised in 1940,the Elephants head came from the Mahratta War of 1803 and was worn byt he 27th Light Dragoons.A strong little badge,showing the Elephants head over the numerals "27"....This battalion came under the auspices of the Miscellaneous Cavarly and Royal Armoured Corps,and was disbanded in 1948. £20.
